May the fourth be with you! It's a pretty awesome day for many of us at ETR because we love the chance to applaud/hail/praise Star Wars. In 2019, we are particularly celebrating how Star Wars inspires youth.
Earlier this year, one of my colleagues found this YouTube clip of an incredibly talented young person playing all the parts from the famous Cantina scene from Star Wars: A New Hope. We were in awe of this musician’s talent and dedication and commitment to creating something unique and beautiful. At ETR, we are always inspired by the gifts, abilities and capacity that youth bring to the things they care about.
It's especially fitting this year that May the 4th is also the first time I'll be meeting with ETR’s Youth Advisory Board (YAB). Our new YAB is one of many integrations growing out of our merger with YTH—now known as ETR’s YTH Initiative. (Look for more reflections on our merger in upcoming posts.) I can think of no better way to celebrate Star Wars Day than spending time with passionate and committed young people, on the eve of YTH Live.
Maybe the young musician from the YouTube clip will join us for YTH Live next year. Even if they don’t, we're inspired by their talents on this day—just as we celebrate the talents and gifts of young people every day.
