School Health Program Manager, ETR
This week, health and physical education leaders and teachers from across the country are descending on Tampa, Florida. They’re heading in for the the annual SHAPE America National Convention and Expo.
I am excited and humbled that my first official convention as a part of the ETR team will also be the moment I step into my role as president of SHAPE America. Receiving the news last year in Nashville that my peers had selected me as president-elect was the highest honor in my professional career.
I did not know then that my professional path would soon be further elevated, but joining the ETR team in January was equally rewarding. Working for a non-profit whose mission is advancing health equity is an amazing opportunity.
That mission will take us right into the SHAPE Tampa convention. We look forward to the opportunity to share with teachers and administrators the ways that HealthSmart, ETR’s signature K-12 health and wellness curriculum, supports schools and districts. We love to show folks how HealthSmart applies best practices for skills-based health education.
We also wanted to do something innovative to amplify our presence during the week. Enter the inaugural HealthSmart #HealthEdQuest!
The #HealthEdQuest, as the hashtag implies, is an interactive scavenger hunt. Participants can win prizes by completing quests and posting them to social media before the conclusion of the conference. Grand Prize is a complete set of HealthSmart (up to a $1000 value) and there are six honorable mentions as well. Some of the nation’s leading health education experts have agreed to join us and be a part of the fun. Even if you don’t win, you’re going to make some great connections!
If you’ll be in Tampa, be sure to check out the flier for details (or click on the image to see the full version). You can click to the registration form here.
And if you can’t be in Tampa in person, be sure to follow the official conference hashtag, #SHAPETampa. Presenters and participants alike will share favorite moments and what they’re learning. You can also follow @HealthSmartK12 on Twitter and like ETR on Facebook to see all the things we’re involved with throughout the week and beyond.
My personal Twitter is @JamieSparksCSH, so please connect. Let’s work together to advance health equity!
