K12 Title IX Training for K-12 Teachers
Title IX Training for K12 Educators
Preventing and addressing sexual and gender-based harassment and sexual assault in K12 schools is of critical importance. One in ten female high school students reports being forced to have sex when they did not want to. Over 16% of female high school students and 5% of male high school students report experiencing sexual violence in the past year. And more than 1 in 10 female high school students report experiencing dating violence in the past year.†
If your school is prepared, your teachers can help.
Are teachers in your K12 school district trained on their roles and responsibilities under the Title IX law? Providing teachers with Title IX training is one of the most effective ways to prevent and address sexual violence in schools and ensure compliance with Title IX law.
ETR’s K12T9 Initiative provides a 2-hour virtual training for up to 50 school-based teachers of K12 students who are interested in learning about Title IX, the federal law that prohibits discrimination based on sex, including sexual and gender-based harassment and sexual assault, in all educational programs that receive federal funds.
What is Involved in Title IX Training?
The interactive workshop provides an overview of Title IX law and 2020 regulations; discusses and explores what behaviors might constitute sexual and/or gender-based harassment and sexual assault; reviews the policies and procedures that your district uses to respond to cases; highlights the specific roles and responsibilities of teachers under Title IX; and includes time for Q&A with ETR’s expert Title IX consultants.
Participants will gain a better understanding of their role as an essential component of your overall Title IX program strategy. And, to support prevention education in your district, three participating teachers will be provided one year of free access to ETR's Title IX Essential Lessons Packs – a series of three lessons for elementary, middle school, and high school students focused on educating students about their rights and responsibilities under Title IX.
