In Their Shoes: Teens and Dating Violence
Designed with the classroom in mind, In Their Shoes: Teens and Dating Violence (Classroom Edition) is a powerful and engaging toolkit for talking about dating violence and healthy relationships with young people in one class period.
Students assume the role of one of six teen characters based on real-life experiences, including sexting, pregnancy, homophobia and stalking. They make choices about their relationships and move through the scenarios by reading about interactions with thir dating partner, family, friends, counselors, police and others.
The debriefing exercise helps the class answer lingering questions, dispels persistent myths about intimate partner violence and helps the group generate ideas for enacting change.
The Washington State Coalition Against Domestic Violence developed the revolutionary In Her Shoes series as a community education tool designed for learning about domestic violence.
Toolkit includes a Facilitator's Guide, laminated Station and Character Cards, Story Cards and a Quick Start Guide.
