The BE strategies of framing and convenience are applied during this part of the program. To begin with, a HAT interventionist clarifies appropriate uses of the emergency department and the benefits of establishing a medical home for primary care services. In addition, the HAT interventionist assists the adolescent in locating a nearby medical home that is accepting new patients with Medicaid. Finally, a HAT nurse could transport an adolescent to the first appointment to overcome a common logistical barrier to care.
