Biography
Nancy Bernal, MPH, CHES® (She/Her/Ella) is a Research Assistant III at ETR. Currently, she assists with all tasks in evaluating the Health Connected Teen Talk High School Refresher (TTHSR) booster program, the Children’s Hospital Los Angeles (CHLA) My Future Self program, and other projects at ETR. Before ETR, Nancy was a Health Educator for California Baptist University's STOP Act grant program, where she developed and translated recruitment materials, trained parents on the Botvin LifeSkills Training Parent program, and distributed surveys to measure parents' knowledge, skills, and attitudes toward substance use among youth. She also has extensive experience providing early childhood developmental services, collaborating with teachers and school administration, and educating students in K-12 schools. Nancy is passionate about health equity, prevention science, and health education among disadvantaged children, youth, and families.
She earned her BS in health science from California State University of Fullerton and her master's degree in public health with a concentration in health education and promotion from California Baptist University. Nancy is also a Certified Health Education Specialist (CHES).
