Biography
Laura Perkins, Health Literacy Specialist, has 12+ years of experience as a Product Editor for ETR, incorporating plain language principles to develop, edit, and publish public health education materials in a wide variety of print and digital formats. She plays an integral role in product management for ETR’s health promotion materials by collaborating with an interdisciplinary team and subject matter experts to ensure that information is understandable and actionable and that it advances health justice by meeting the needs of diverse audiences. She provides substantive editing expertise to revise and update existing content, ensuring accuracy and consistency across product lines. Recently, she has contributed as a copyeditor for the Tobacco Education Clearinghouse of California (TECC) project, working on updates to educational materials and toolkits distributed through TECC’s catalog and editing copy for the Rural Initiatives Strengthening Equity (RISE) and Tribal Community Coordinating Center (TCCC) websites. She has over 20 years of experience working in editorial and publishing, including 10 years working as a researcher at the San Francisco Chronicle. She has a B.A. in English Literature and a Master of Library Science.
