ETR to Launch the Reimagining Young People's Sexual Health Equity Innovation Hub
In partnership with HHS, ETR continues to lead in youth health equity and innovation
Scotts Valley, CA - The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Office of Population Affairs (OPA) recently awarded over $23 million in funds to support evidence-based Teen Pregnancy Prevention (TPP) programs. Education, Training, and Research Associates (ETR) is a proud recipient of three OPA funded grants. Through this funding, ETR will develop, implement, and evaluate TPP programs essential to impacting the health and well-being of young people. The funding represents a significant commitment from OPA to address historical gaps and emerging needs in adolescent sexual health and ETR’s leadership in the field.
“We’re honored to be stewards of these resources in support of sex education where ETR has been a leader for over 40 years, in the development, implementation, and evaluation of TPP programs," said Dr. Vignetta Charles, CEO of ETR. “With an increase each year in the number of schools and community-based organizations facing limited resources and restricted access, outcomes from The Reimagining Young People’s Sexual Health Equity (RYSE) Innovation Hub are more important than ever. The RYSE Innovation Hub will ensure that more youth, particularly from marginalized communities, receive increased support designed in collaboration with young people to achieve positive health outcomes around their sexual health and wellbeing. Science says that this support can positively impact other aspects of life, bridging to a healthier life in their adult years.”
As part of ETR’s efforts to develop the RYSE Innovation Hub, we have launched a new website to share additional resources regarding RYSE’s mission, staff, and project goals for the next few years. To learn more about how the RYSE Innovation Hub is developing, refining, and testing youth-driven innovations to promote young people’s sexual health to reduce teen pregnancy and sexually transmitted infections, click the link below.
RYSE will recruit up to four cohorts of Innovation Development Teams (IDTs). The products from these teams will promote adolescent sexual health equity and meaningfully elevate youth voice throughout the innovation development, delivery, and evaluation process. Additional information on the recruitment strategy can be found on the website.
