ICYMI: California's Clean Air Project Awards Running Creek Casino for Smokefree Policy

CCAP awards casino’s demonstrating an exceptional commitment to fostering a safe, healthy, and smokefree environment in alignment with ETR’s vision

Scotts Valley, CA – California’s Clean Air Project (CCAP), a project of Education, Training, and Research Associates (ETR), recently awarded Running Creek Casino, an Enterprise of the Habematolel Pomo of Upper Lake, the California Tribal Communities Public Health Leadership Award. This award recognizes California Tribal communities that demonstrate a commitment to increasing public health through the creation of a healthy environment for community members, staff, and customers as a smokefree establishment.

Recognizing Running Creek Casino is a testament of the hard work Tribal communities, non-profits, and corporations have put into prioritizing public health. This acknowledgement exemplifies the joint commitment to improving public health through commercial tobacco prevention and clean air policies. More importantly, this award highlights the dedication, and forward-thinking approach of the entire team at Running Creek Casino and the Executive Council of Habematolel Pomo of Upper Lake,” said Dr. Vignetta Charles, Chief Executive Officer of ETR.

By embracing a smokefree policy, Running Creek Casino is setting high standards in the gaming industry.

“The Habematolel Pomo of Upper Lake works hard to protect the health of our Tribal community and all who visit our Tribal enterprises. We are honored to be recognized for our initiatives to protect public health and promote healthy outcomes. We also appreciate the leadership of our casino's general manager, Chris Vieceli, who has guided this enterprise with skillful competence to help ensure our patrons have a great experience,” said Sherry Treppa, Chairwoman for the Habematolel Pomo of Upper Lake Tribe.
